For the
world today education means getting a degree certificate from some university,
where you learnt books written by eminent writers (not always) and attend an
examination of three hour. Earlier times, education was not only learning from
books, it developed a process of thinking in your mind, it taught children
about life, how to behave and respect others, what are the human values a
man/woman should possess in life. Education turned out to be the most
profitable business now. Even a man without education can own an educational
institution. Money and power controls the educational system in our society. Without
being qualified in entrance exam, one will get seat in a professional college;
only requirement is satisfy the management with currency.
Have you
ever thought of the girl victims of child marriage? They can be admitted to
colleges even if they are married but what happens if they cannot complete their
school education. In our nation we don’t have a provision to give admission for
married girls below the age of 18. Some of the girls show courage to continue
their school but the problem arise in the school. Principal will not be ready
to give admission to such girls. Who is to be blamed in this -The victim or her
parents or the principal? This is the failure of our education system.Marriage markets
turned out to be business markets now- the more the dowry you offer, Higher the
status of the groom. In what is our nation developing, corruption? Malnutrition
children? Poverty?
Free flow
of thoughts, courage to face a crowd, to rectify good and bad in life, to
choose a career are what you are expected to acquire from education. How many
of us are educated?
