Fuel in Kerala

Petrol price hike is affecting not only the vehicle owners but also the common man who depends on public transport to travel. Something which I felt curious  ( many others also felt it but not the  government) is fuel price hike is applicable all over the country but hike transport hike varies depending on the states. This may be seen as a drawback of our system but why there is so much hike in Kerala, the god's own country, alone. Our neighboring states Tamil Nadu and Karnataka run their services with a minimum fare of Rs 3 and Rs 4.50 respectively where Kerala is running with Rs 6. Even with this minimum fare are the passengers getting any additional benefit from the transport department?

In Kerala, private buses are higher in numbers compared to the state road transport. KSRTC do not have services in rural ares where private buses get permits to run their buses. As a result of this government will have to accept the conditions put forward by the bus owners to avoid bus strikes. Many  times we read articles about large number of KSRTC buses which are dumped in workshops without service. The department should take initiative to make use of all those buses and start new services instead of making it dead and decay. Funds should be utilized in proper manner to uplift the transport department.

When the state service develops automatically this will reduce the authority of private owners and private vehicles. The multi-coloured buses that run all over the state with in-disciplined staff creating nuisance to the passengers. This does not mean state transport is highly better in all that but passengers can file a complaint against them in the department and disciplinary action will be taken against them.Another advantage will be in the job opportunity where government services will be raised. Other states are successful in developing their state transport because they never allow private owners to rule them. At present, the minimum fare for three people is Rs 18 so its better to depend on auto-rickshaw which will amount to around Rs 20 for a minimum distance.

Every time fuel price is hiked, a vehicle strike follows . It will end in the vehicle fare hike which again leads to price hike in essential commodities, construction materials , manual labor etc.  Is there a salary hike adjacent to all these? Government  supposed to rule  'for the people' should remember that their salaries come from the public treasury . They have allowances for each and every essentials in life , but that is not the situation of a common man.
