Numbers in english

  • 404 -it  means someone or something missing
         Arun went to look for Meera in her office but got a 404.
  • 101 - used to refer to something introduction or elementary on a topic 
          Ram does not know even etiquette 101.
  • twenty - twenty - normal visual acuity
         (The word is common with cricket matches now )
  •  64 million $ question - critical question about a problem/ a crucial issue
          Should or not media use sting operation to unleash scandals is a 64 million $ question.
  • catch22 - a situation marked by contradiction, absurdity or paradox where a solution is impossible to achieve
        The players involved say they cant disclose the facts which leads to a catch22.
  • eighty- six - to throw out /discard/reject/to refuse to serve a customer
         Lets eighty-six this dosa and go out get some pizza.
  • two-fisted - great vigor/energy/enthusiasm
        A two-fist drinker 
  • deep-six - to throw overboard/to discard/ reject
        The students deep-sixed the Principal's attempt to call Sunday classes.
  • four-square   - marked by boldness and conviction
        He maintained a four-square position in the controversy.
  • two-time  - carry on a romantics relationship with two people at the same time/to be unfaithful/to deceive
       I finished with him when I found  out he was two timing me.
  • four-flush  - to bluff/refers to empty boasting
       Don't get carried by his words he is a four flush.
  • the whole nine yards - everything or all the way
        She knows everything about films, the editing, mixing, directing , acting , the whole nine yards.
