Kannadiyude Kazhcha: M. Mukundan

This book is a collection of 13 short stories. It tells the stories of common people who are around us but they are not noticed. The stories are Anamika, Muthashi Kadha, GM, Kannadiyude Kazhcha, Devadharukkal, Charamgeetham, Kuttiyalikkar, Unnikadha, Mukalile Visheshangal, Magic Shop, Plastic, Simhavaalan and Chaalakam.

Anamika is married to Abhimanyu, but she is in love with his friend Sumeet. She is very much worried about this but still she is pulled towards Sumeet for some reason. In this the author has not pictured Anamika as a negative character but at some stages I thought why she is cheating her husband.
Unnikkadha is very interesting. In this, a grand-son is narrating stories to grand-mother. She will sleep only after listening to Unni’s stories.

The title of the book is aptly chosen, as it includes a story titled Kannadiyude Kazhcha. It shows the life style difference in village and city. Unnikrishnan, is memorizing the changes that happened in his life. Life was a probationary period for him. He was feeling lonely in his old age, without his mother who always asked him to get married. But he never bothered. He was trying to read his diary like looking into a broken mirror.

Lives of people are like broken mirror. Mukundan has showed that to the readers in simple language.
